A search has been taking place at a British woman's villa 150 yards from the Algarve apartment that Madeleine McCann went missing from 12 days ago.

Madeleine from Leicestershire is feared to have been abducted from a holiday apartment in Portugal on Thursday.

Her family confirmed she was wearing white pyjama bottoms with a small floral design and a short-sleeved pink top with a picture of Winnie the Pooh character Eeyore. The pyjamas, bought in Marks and Spencer last year, had the Eeyore written in capital letters.

The toddler is believed to have been taken from her bed while her parents were eating at a nearby restaurant and regularly checking on her and their two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie.

A search has been taking place at a British woman's villa 150 yards from the Algarve apartment that Madeleine McCann went missing from 12 days ago.

Mr Murat, who described himself as half-Portuguese and told journalists he had been helping police with translation work during the investigation, is a frequent visitor to Casa Liliana.

Police believe three-year-old Madeleine McCann is still alive and have a drawing of a suspect based on evidence from witnesses, said Guilhermino Encarnacao, head of the judicial police in the Faro area of the Algarve.

He is believed to have moved on his own to Portugal three years ago. He had been living with his wife and family in Hockering, Norfolk.

Mrs Murat, a former nurse, has lived in Portugal for 40 years and brought her son and daughter up in the country.

The aunt of missing girl Madeleine McCann has been making another appeal for her safe return during the Women's 10K run in Glasgow.

He said up to 150 officers were searching for the girl, who was reported missing on Thursday. Friends of the McCann family had insisted she was abducted because there was evidence of a forced entry into the villa where the family was staying.

Madeleine McCann's parents, who were on holiday in the Algarve with friends, made an emotional appeal late on Friday for their daughter to be let go.

"Please, please do not hurt her. Please do not scare her. Please tell us where to find her or put her in a place of safety and let somebody know where she is," Kate McCann said in a faltering voice as she held up a picture of her daughter.Mother begs for return of Madeleine

The local daily Correio da Manha reported on Monday that police had produced a picture of the suspect, a strongly built individual of medium height.
